Rangoli: Spring Garden Kolams - Sunflowers

Dot count 12(2) - 2

Here is a sunflower kolam for the spring garden. Just harvested sunflowers in my farmville garden so I could not resist making one for the ikolam garden. It just took me 25 minutes to complete it. After it was done I thought maybe I should have changed the background but I did not want to take more time so I decided to upload it 'as is was is' condition.

Rangoli: Spring Garden Kolams

Dot count - straight dots 15 - 1

This butterfly and flower (don't know the name of this flower though) kolam, is one of the many kolams I have in my collection of this kind. If I have the time I will try and make more of them and upload soon.

Rangoli: Spring Garden Kolams - Cotton flower

Dots - interlaced 13 - 7

Building this spring garden in ikolam is too tempting for me to stop myself from uploading one kolam a day. Since I wanted to submit a different flower, today I made this cotton flower kolam as I don't see that category in your spring collection. It took me just 15 minutes to complete this one and I am quite happy with the result. Am sure all of you too will be pleased Smile

Rangoli: Spring Garden Kolams - "Chikku naduvil chikkikitta Chethipoo"

This kolam is from a base of 5 - 5 dots with extensions on all four sides. The dot count is a bit difficult to explain but is quite clear in the kolam itselt. I copied this from the Aval Vikatan as the design was unique as I fell in love with it immediately. In fact this kolam was done by me last April and safely stored away in my computer and now when I was looking for kolams with flowers I found this pretty one. I think everyone will agree with the title as it is very apt.

Rangoli: Spring Garden Kolams - Daffodils

Dots - Interlaced 15 - 8

I have been trying to complete this kolam for the last two weeks but something or the other came in the way and only today I managed to complete it. Though I am not fully satisfied with the outcome I am going ahead and uploading it because I am sure it will take much longer if I keep it and try to get a fully satisfied product. Let me know what you think friends Smile

When I see this kolam I am reminded of the beautiful poem I learnt in school written by William Wordsworth

"Daffodils" (1804)

I wander'd lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;

Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,

They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:

I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,

They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

By William Wordsworth (1770-1850).

Rangoli: Spring Garden Kolams - Bunch of wild flowers

Here is a set of floral borders which can be used to decorate the sides of any kolam. Some of them are my own creations, while a few are copied from some embroidery books.

Rangoli: Spring Garden Kolams - Hibiscus

Straight dots - 8(4) - 4(2)

This is a kolam I copied from Aval Vikadan. Yesterday there was no electricity the whole day so I did not know what to do with myself. I took out my kolapodi and kolam books and started putting kolams on my kitchen top. This is one of them. I love the way this shoeflower looks and wish I had colour podi to colour it. This spring garden is too tempting to stop creating new ones.

Rangoli: Spring Garden Kolams - Butterflies

A group of 4 butterflies dancing in a circle. These butterflies can be decorated differently according to your own imagination. A day without electricity at home made me make this one also on my kitchen top.
