Rangoli: Romantic Rangolis

Here comes another set of rangolis for the occassion. I tried to do a rangoli 'Lakshmi style' on my kitchen top with kolapodi and this is what I landed up with. Though it not so perfect, since it had some heart shapes, I thought I'd upload it today. After I finished clicking a picture I was removing the kolapodi from the slab when I realised that it was making a base texture and suddenly Manjula's rangoli came to my mind and with my fingertip I just casually drew a usual freehand rangoli which I photographed and combined with the first rangoli since this also had some heart like shapes - hope you all like it Smile

Rangoli: Advanced kolams

This is a combination of some of my straight dotted pookolams which I had put for Marghazi.. The first and last are my personal favourites Smile

Rangoli: Margazhi Rangoli

Straight dots 19 - 1

This is one of my favourite chikku kolams. I put this in the month of Margazhi and am uploading this now only. Chikku kolams give me immense satisfaction as I find it quite challenging and relaxing and when done I feel happy - but this one should have been a little more perfect I feel. Look forward to your comments friends Smile

Rangoli: Marghazhi kolams

Straight dots: 17 - 1

This month the weather is so unpredictable that almost every day it is raining and I am not able to put kolam outside. This was done on Sunday last when fortunately it did not rain. I call it the 'Disconnected Kolam' as you can see the lines are not joined... Hope you like it Smile

Rangoli: Romantic Rangolis

Interlaced dots 11 - 6

I put this kolam outside my house on the day of my naphew's engagement couple of weeks ago and was waiting to upload it when I saw your announcement about 'Romantic Rangolis'. Now since this was an ordinary white kolapodi kolam I decided to redo it on photoshop and add the colours red and pink also and here is what you see. The normal traditional kolam with white hearts and a modern copy using photoshop with two shades each of red and pink... Hope I am able to spread enough love around ikolam Smile

Rangoli: Pongal Rangoli

Straignt dots - 19 - 1

This is a very simple pongal paanai kolam which I drew on Pongal this year - I did not have a good choice of colours (Brindha and Preethi I really envy you guys) and had to make do with whatever was there, so though the kolam came out quite well, the colouring was not at all satisfactory. I am planning to go on a hunting spree to look for the colours owned by the envied two ikolam members mentioned above and hope to present some wonderful coloured rangoli soon Smile

Margazhi Dew Drops Rangoli Contest - 2010

A dotted kolam for the contest. Dot count: 15-8

Rangoli: Marghazhi Kolams

This was my first Marghazhi kolam due to the unpredictable weather here in Chennai. I took this from Aval Vikatan because I liked the shape of the roses very much. The dot count is a little confusing so I will give the count from the first line - inbetween dots - 1, 2, 5, 10, 9, 8, 9, 8, 9, 10, 5, 2, 1. I am sure this will look lovely if coloured - anyone want to try??
