Rangoli: HAPPY INDEPENDANCE DAY (Photoshop Kolam)

I wanted to put this kolam this morning in front of my house but since it was raining I could not do so.... I did not want to let this opportunity go by so I sat on the computer and completed this kolam in 15 minutes... I know the proportion between the colours on the flag are not even but I did not want to delay in perfecting this kolam before uploading this today or else it would be too late and the essence would be lost... So please excuse this...

Rangoli: Maiyil Kan - Peacock Eye

Last week we had been to Thiruthani for the ear boring ceremony of my grandson (my niece's son).. There were many people selling these peacock feathers otherwise known as "Maiyil Kan" and I could not resist myself from clicking pictures. I want to share with all of you since I have seen so many peacock related stuff due to Krisha Jayanthi... Lata would you mind if I jumped the queue and asked you to upload this for me please??

Rangoli: Spotlight on Ganesha

This is my pooja shelf where Lakshmi, Ganesha, Saraswathi and Jesus share space(without fighting, mind you)... Now all of you must be wondering what that spotlight on Ganesha is... Well during the month of August every year at around 7 am the sun shines into my house, crosses the hall, passes right through the dining room (my pooja shelf is in the dining room) and strikes only on Gannu for about 20 minutes.... It is such a lovely sight to see, that I could not resist from sharing this here with all of you so yesterday I clicked a picture of this natural wonder for you to see... This reminded me of the temple in Namakkal (Hanuman??)where the sun shines through the roof at around 12 noon (this also I think during some part of the year or is it through the year?)...

Rangoli: Welcome to the Newcomers

Lata I have seen a lot of new entrants recently so I am WELCOMING one and all on your behalf with my stencil kolam - this time instead of putting only white (like I did for the Ganesha and Peacock stencil) I have used two more colours... Once again WELCOME to all the new born babies Smile Smile

Rangoli: Advanced kolams

Here is another set of my kolams...

1. Rajamma's favourite set of kolams. Interlaced/inbetween dots 7 - 4
2. Gowri this one is for you (my all time favourite chikku kolams) Straight dots 11 - 1
3. This is another of my favourites too. Straight dots 9 - 1
4. Last but not least - Kalasa Kolam I put yesterday for Varalakshmi Vridha. It
was a two in one kolam because it is Amman Temple festival week in my area and
yesterday was 108 Paal Kudam (milk pot) day. 108 women will carry a pot of milk
decorated with neem leaves, smeared with saffron on their head from a given point
and come to the temple in a procession with the traditional urumi mela thaalam
(traditional instrument).. Interlaced/inbetween dots (Purni style) 1, 2, 3 then
continued by straignt dots 5, 9, 9, 7, 5, 7, 9, 11, 11, 9, 7, 5 - Purni waiting
to see you copy this one soon Smile

Rangoli: Advanced poo kolams

For a change I thought i'd upload one of my advanced photoshop poo kolams - as you can see the dot count is 11 - 6 (interlaced / inbetween dots).....

Rangoli: 'David and Goliath'

It is a picture of the coconut trees in our house which are about 10 years old... Couple of weeks ago we cut the coconuts and trimmed the trees. We opened many of the coconuts and to our surprise we found this teeny weeny coconut which fit inside my palm so I was tempted to click a picture and then I decided to take a picture of the biggest coconut also (which refused to fit in my palm). I then took a picture of both 'David and Goliath' (the famous Bible combo) and made a collage of all these pictures for all of you to enjoy...

Rangoli: Before and After Rangoli

I came across a cute tiny little flower kolam that was put by one of my neighbours and tried it out on my kitchen top with colours - it was so pretty that I clicked a picture immediately. Not having the heart to erase it, I slowly started adding frills to it and finally came up with something that looked like embroidery and took another picture of that too. I have combined the 'Before and After' in one picture.
