Chikku Saturday
About Chikku Saturday : PRINT
Today I tried making a small version of the chikku kolam uploaded recently by Malar Anand. I learnt to use Turmeric and Kumum in kolams from my Mother-in-law. I think I have only reproduced the chikku pattern, but not the neatness of Malar's kolam!!! Hope this is not bad, considering I have started to learn making kolams only since last 6 months.

Your chikku kolam is neat and the strokes are crispy. The mud floor with grass around look like Deepa madam's. keep trying , u will achieve perfection soon.

Thanks for your comments - they give me confidence to try better! Rajamma ma'am, the floor is actually a cement one which has probably worn off with time and now has a very uneven surface.

A rough cement flooring is next best to the mud flooring to make any kolam look beautiful and you are lucky to have this rough patch Sindhu - you have done enough justice to make this kolam look really neat and pretty with the added decoration of manjal and kumkum. Neat work - good, keep it up
