Lakshmi for a first job this is really good - well done Pavan.... reminds me of the first computer i worked on way back in 1984... this same black and green screen - the background would be black and the images would be in green... by the time i'd finish work in the evening i would be seeing everything in green... later the computers were black and white and it was only sometime in 1999 that my boss felt sorry for me and got me a colour monitor... i was so excited with my new monitor that i decided to use MS paint to draw a cartoon picture (took me a week to finish) which i am posting here today... Lata can put that in the arts section i am sure.... from then on my passion for drawing on the computer started and thanks to Anita and Gerard (my kids) i learnt to use photoshop also...

Pavan, thanks for taking us all to our younger days. I am sure all seniors would have started puting this swasthik design in our early days. One small request. Don't give the computer to amma. She can be allowed to use it only for commenting. I want her rangolis glittering on the floor. Very few can do wnderful creations Daily like her.And it is a good exercise also. Those who do not have BIG place to put rangoli/kolam can use Ms paint and Photoshops. Ok?

This is quite good for a professional too. This rangOli makes me suddenly sad as it was a favourite of my sister. Green on a black background can cause eye strain. Scientific research has shown that amber colour is the best and causes least eye strain. That is why I use that for my SGI at work. Good old computer stories! How many of you have worked with paper tapes (my first computer was the Elliot 803 at HAL, Bangalore) and punched cards (CDC 3600 at TIFR, Bombay)? How will you feel when the rubber band that holds the card deck snaps and your binary executable falls helter skelter in the monsoon rains of Bombay? Yes, the young ones know how to tame the computer. But they are very impatient to teach the older ones (Pavanji may be an exception). Regards! - mOhana

That makes me think, are there conferences on rangOlis? There is so much to discuss in the science, methodology and the execution of rangOlis. Looks like such a meeting is going to be held in Madras :-) Good luck and godspeed! Regards! - mOhana
