Rangoli using a spoon as a tool
About Rangoli using a spoon as a tool : PRINT
This method of creating rangoli could be used for teaching kids.
Rangoli using a spoon as a tool:
1. Spread powdered color with the help of a sieve on the floor in the shape of a circle - as seen in Figure 1. This makes a nice background for your flower rangoli which you would create on top of the circle.
2. Spoon in 1/4th of a spoon of any contrasting color of your choice on top of the circle, and press down gently with the back of a spoon, to make it look like a petal. You could add in more petals until you're done creating your flower - Figure 2, figure 3
You can also make rangolis of boats, trees, butterfly or a house on top of the background shown in Figure 1.

Hi Swati,
You've sent in an easy way for the kids to make rangoli. With the Navrathiri season approaching, I'm sure even little kids can participate in making such kind of rangolis. I can imagine my girls fighting for their share of favorite colors of sand (we only get sand here and no powder). I better plan a trip to my local craft supply store to stock up on the different colors...
Thank you Swati.
