I have a theory. The design of mosque domes might have been influenced by the shape the onion and garlic bulbs. These started in the middle east where the cuisine has these ingredients. Any takers? Regards! - mOhana

Thank you all for your comments. I'm glad you liked this piece. Purni, you're right, I should dig this one up for Halloween too. Asha, I forgot all about garlic chutney, garlic vaththakuzhambu is what my family thinks of every now and then. In fact, I make the vathakuzhambu when ever I get the need to get extra help with this site, from Mani, as a bribe! He doesn't realize it yet. ;) mOhanaji, I too am reminded of white onions and garlic, whenever I come across mosques and some Mughal structures.
