Okra for the veggie patch
About Okra for the veggie patch : PRINT
Here is an okra collage for the veggie patch.
Top left - Okra "sun". Please observe the cut okra pieces at the bottom of this picture. You'll see holes for seeds with numbers 5, 7, 10, 8 and 6. It never occurred to me that there is this much diversity here.
Top right - Hexagonal pattern with red okras.
Bottom left - Red okras with four-fold (svAstika) symmetry.
Bottom right - Okra "nAmam"!
Enlarged versions of an okra flower and the red okra also shown.
While straight okras are easier to cut, the curved ones are the best for patterns My mother always used to feed me with okras as she felt they are good for the nourishment of the brain! Enjoy!

So JKM has created lovely kolams with ladies fingers (which lady's fingers did you use please?? - hehe). Just kidding.. Yes indeed it is quite interesting to see the cross section of the okhra with different number of seeds (I have seen a few varieties too). The same is with drum stick. The normal variety has three sections. We had a plant at my in-law's place which had four sections. Recently I came across one variety in my neighbourhood which has five sections and was very surprised to see that. Will try and upload a picture if I manage to get hold of one sometime
The first design is very interesting. The second one looks like a earring pattern, the third one is one of the regular patterns and the last one is very neat. Red okhra looks interesting (have never come across one so far).

Very creative ideas with okras! I remember my childhood days, when we play with the okra heads before throwing them away by sticking it to the walls and making different patterns! Those were the magnetic stickers provided by nature!

Thanks for your nice comments, everybody, my chest size has increased by two inches
Here are some links to the red okra. I have seen red-shaded (though not completely purple or red) ladyfingers in India too.

Wonderful arrangements, Mohanaji! I ahve seen red shade in green Okra itself but not the fully red one. It is nice to see them in the kolam as well as in the link given by You. Thanks for the homework done by you:)
