About Kirigami : PRINT
My daughter and I had gone to a Japanese festival (Cherry Blossom)and learnt this kirigami.Both of us tried to do this Kirigami.
In Japanese language,Gami = Paper.Kiri = Fold and Cut.
I will try out some other patterns and upload it for ikolam friends.Ofcourse,our ikolam legends would come up with many patterns : )

nice kolam kirigami.
yes ammuji, they are different even though both are done using paper. In origami there is no paper cutting, its done by folding square piece of paper.

Ammu mam...Anirudh has explained it very well. Ori = Fold, Kiri = Fold and cut.

Do you know, this is a very nice way of studying symmetry. My friend Jarek (now in Poland) used to this quite often.
