Rangoli: chikku kOlam - 5 - kunDalinI nAgabandha

kunDalinI nAgabandha is a chikku kOlam! Here is one I made with a string.
If you cut at any point and draw a head and tail, it becomes a nAga.
The one I am showing is a closed one. One can give more twists or eliminate
some to get newer patterns. Also this can be cut at two (four) opposite points
to give rise to two (four) snakes.

Rangoli: hridayakamalam - 4, chikku kOlam -4

hridayakamalam is a chikku kOlam!

See the up and down movement of the string in this hridayakamalam (same as hk-2).
Depending upon the complexity of the kOlam, the number of points of intersection
varies. In this case, it is 16. The hridayakamalam like this has handedness.

Rangoli: Mango Leaves - 4

Mango takes me back to my childhood. I remember the days when every Friday
my father will decorate the front door with fresh leaves and a toraNa. Then there
was always this pUja or that pUja with kalaSam full of leaves. Then the countless
varieties of pickles my mother used to make to last the whole year. jADis full of
aavakAya, mAgAya, meMtikAya, etc. Then the fruits of various varieties, the
rasAlu, the nIlam, the baMganapalli, the pasaMds, etc. Where have those days
gone, those sweet days when there was nothing to care about except school. Gone
are they, gone are the parents, gone are the sisters, gone are the friends.
Nothing but memories in a foreign land whre the mango tastes like anything but a
mango!

Rangoli: Happy Easter - hridayakamalam - 3

We are all aware of the eight cornered hridayakamalam and assume that it is the
only way of drawing the hridayakamalam. Here is a hridayakamalam drawn with eighteen
corners. It is like a flower. The connections are made for hearts rotated by 140
degrees. Eggs are a must for easter symbolising new life. Hearts too symbolise
new life, is it not?

Rangoli: hridayakamalam - 2

I am demonstrating the method of drawing a simple hridayakamalam without dots.
The figure is self-explanatory. Comments for improvement are welcome.

====

All the best are yours, all the worst are mine
The beauty is yours, but the ugliness is mine
My talk is empty, my music is discordant
my song is thoughtless, my art is ordinary
my logic is twisted, my arguments are repetitive
I am at war with myself and I make new enemies
I long for beauty and peace
but my heart is ugly, unfit and stormy
It is certainly not a lotus
and it may not be even a heart

Rangoli: nava-hridaya-kamalam

Here is a hridayakamalam. There are nine of them in each motif.
The word nava means nine as well as new. In that sense the name is
apt. The various stages in obtaining this are given on the right side.
Comments are welcome.

Rangoli: chikku kOlam - 3

These are 3X3 dot string rangOlis with three strings. The explanations and
characteristics I gave for the earlier kOlams in the body and the discussion
sections apply for these too. Regards! - mOhana
