This an avatar of lord Vishnu as Lord Varaha Swamy. Lord Vishnu takes this avatar to destroy the deamon Hiranyaksha the brother of Deamon king Hiranyakashyap. Hiranyaksha took Bhudevi into the Patala lokam. To rescue mother earth from this deamon vishnu took the form of Varaha and destroyed this deamon.
