Paavaikkai kolam.
About Paavaikkai kolam. : PRINT
This kolam is also an oldest pattern slightly modified. The dot count is 9-5 inbetween dots, then 2-1 on all the six sides. The yellow colored design is called ' Paavaikkai or bittergaurd' design, we all would have put this so many times. The centre will be usually a star design which I have changed in to a flower design. In the outer colomn also instead of paavaikai, I put small girls like design going around, hoping the younger generations also will continue this Kolam Art.

I want to color the outer color dolls differently, but notime, since I was hurrying to go and see the newborn baby in our family,.( Yes, Jayanthi, my neice is blessed with a cute little baby grandson on 18th.And my mother became the great great grandmother.) By the time I returned the rangoli was spoilt by the passers. so uploaded the photo taken earlier.

Very nice, madam.
The idea of allowing the floor colour also to be visible amidst the rangoli has given a beautiful effect.Gives the entire kolam a mosaic effect.
