What a grand rangoli, Kameswari! Don't know where to start; lovely base color, diyas look rich with maroon color and I really like your gold stripes on them. I agree with you regarding the choice of crackers. That's my favorite too, too bad I don't get access to such types where I live
Lovely stencil work all around and lovely collection of diyas. I like your dotted style of diyas.
Best wishes and thank you so much for participating in the contest.
Rangoli contest 2010 results will be announced on November 20th at 6:00pm Pacific Standard Time (that will be November 21st 7:30am Indian Standard Time)

First of all, I owe you an apology kAmESvarI ma'am. I did not go through all the rangOlis at the same time. I viewed them over three days. I think I must have missed yours in that manner. Still that is not an excuse. I remember the time, long ago, may be 47 or 48 years ago, when three of us on the faculty took nearly 150 students on a tour and left one back who returned by train the next day. Today I feel the same way
To me this rangOli looks like an embroidered cloth just removed from the frame. This combines both the religious as well as the secular parts quite well. On the one hand I see svAstikAs and on the other flower pot
crackers. (They look so nice and bring nostalgic memories. Here we see crackers only during July 4 celebrations. May be ten years ago or so, I witnessed the live fireworks display in the mall in Washington.) The outside patterns look like stencils. The symmetry is good and I like the placement of the real lamps. The red lamps around the centre could have been decorated more. Overall, quite impressive. As you would have read, I did not grade any rangOli this year, but mere participation with zeal and dedication makes you a winner!

Thank you very much Sir for your precious comments. I think all the members of iKolam would be eager to have the comments of JKM Sir, Rajam Mam and Judy Mam especially as they comment on the rangolis make suggestions to improve the art by taking all aspects like symmetry, colouring, presentation etc. into considertaion. I once again checked all contest rangolis and my rangoli only missed your valuable comemnts Sir. I hesitated to reveal my feelings on the blog but could not resist. That is why I have sent my comment. Sorry for troubling you. We need your valable suggestions, criticism, encouragement and blessings. Thank you once again Sir.
Regards - Kameswari.

Thank you Umaji. Yes diyas were painted by my daughters Saranya and Amogha aged 9 years and 7 years respecively. We bought earthern diyas of different designs and painted them with acrylic fabric colours. Gold and silver colours are available in powder form. We have to mix some diluter supplied along with it. All other colours are available in ready-to-use form.
