Chennai Meet 2010 (Part 2)
Hi friends - we are glad to announce a Chennai Meet (Part 2).
This time we have decided to meet at Sumathi's residence in Anna Nagar. Hopefully we should be able to meet sometime around end October or beginning November on any convenient weekend. Date and time will be fixed later on and informed by email.
Any new members wanting to join us can please contact Lata by email and she will direct you to us. This time dress code we are planning 'Pacha(Green)colour Jinguchaaa' and would like to represent 'Pachakilis'(parrots).
Old members please contact Lakshmi over phone for further discussions on the programme, menu and various other activities. At this point I would like to ask whoever is interested, to please mention what demo you would like to give us during the meet. Remaining discussions by email.
Hope to have some confirmations soon and looking forward to the wonderful day when we will be meeting to have lots of fun....

Interested members would've submitted some rangolis/craft works. You would have passed some comments to other's rangolis. To a certain extent, you must've established your rapport with the ikolam administrators and others members. After you've expressed your interest in attending this meet, you will hear back from us.

Am a regular visitor of ikolam site, want to participate in chennai meet and as per the requirement mentioned here by judelined., I have only one post and have not yet commented on others creation. Cos am a beginner in kolam., only after visiting this site, started learning. Am very much interested in meeting all kolam specialist. Can I participate??

Thanks for your wishes Vijaysowmya - sure would have been lovely to have you over with us...
As for Ramya, I went to your gallery just now and saw your golu doll which you uploaded last year for which I had posted my comments also. Basically the reason for the requirement mentioned below is just that we get familiar with each other before we meet in person. Being a beginner or a learner should not stop you from posting comments for other's kolams - you should not think that you are not qualified to comment on kolams done by others who have more experience than you. Actually we are all learners in one way or another. Infact on Saturday I had a chance to learn something new with stencils and plan to do a demo of this at the meet this time to share my experience with the others. So in my opinion, I think you should start commenting on all the kolams from today onwards without feeling bad. (Of course I too felt the same way initially, but once I started commenting I got over it as comments for any and every kolam is MOST WELCOME).
It would also be lovely to have more new members join us this time, so I suggest you send a separate mail to Lata and request for my contact details. Once you get that you can mail me separately and we will take it from there.

Since the Chennai meet is closer now I thought I should put a comment to remind everyone of the date and time.
October 30, 2010 / 10.30 to 11.00 am at Sumathi's house (address is being emailed to you individually)

Thank you for expressing your interest in attending our meets. The normal way to go about attending or participating in the meets is to be an active member at ikolam (by commenting on others' works, and also by sharing some of your own creations). Since the meets are conducted in members' residences, you'll need to build some level of trust and rapport among everybody (ikolam staff and the members of the site).
The meets usually happen once or twice a year. We'll notify you when the next meet is conducted.
