mOhanaji's sona square kolam
About mOhanaji's sona square kolam : PRINT
I enjoyed doing this copycat kolam on a wooden plank. can you guess what is the medium i have used?
( after finishing only i thought i should have drawn this on my black granite slab to get the original effect)

Beautiful!
My guess; coarse rava (cream of wheat), or, coarsely ground rice (the kind we use for upma).

Very beautiful. Is it with dessicated coconut or dried coconut scrapings?

Rajamma mam,
Your kolam looks very nice. I believe you might have made this kolam either using rava or rice rava or rice kurunai.

Nice reproduction. The medium used is crystal salt. Am I correct?

The designer of any rangOli is always happy when someone tries to recreate it. Otherwise, it will be nicely slotted and will become part of a gallery that is occasionally visited. Here is Mrs rAjammA who lovingly brought life to my theory. I am grateful to her and am deeply indebted.

I think the medium must be crushed pearl sago.

Vinci and Jayanthi guessed correctly (partly). Coconut scappings grinded nicely in mixie and after extracting the milk from it, the chakkai was removed and dried . It was powder like and resembles mOhanaji's white computer lines. It is difficult to draw ezhai with that so I just managed to fill it in line to get the same effect like the original.
I am thankful to you Mr, mOhanaji for giving new designs and encouraging my copy work (though it is nowhere near the original) . I have NOT used ravai, rice ravai, sugar , crystal salt or crushed pearl sago.... but thanks for the new idea, will try in future.
