Haldi-Kumkum

This is made by me for the religious function in our house to distribute haldi-kumkum. I've used thin craft cardboard sheet and golden sheet stuck on it. coconut made with small ball of jute (we get in hardware shop to clean the tiles) tied with golden thread and haldi and kumkum tied separately in transparant poly coloured sheets. Hope you all like it.
Thanks in advance.

if this is your tradition then, my question is : Is it auspious to give black bangles in thabulam ? why not color bangles

Sumaginger's picture

Just to clarify about bangle part, it's a small black bangles we get in shops where they sell kumkum. It's supposed to be very auspicious and a must in Gowri pooja (it's called kanchukam i.e. a set of tiny black bangles, small mirror, comb, kajal, haldi and kumkum we offer to godess Gowri also exchange with women in Mora (i.e.set of cane pans). Along with this we also give normal glass bangles set of 4 or 5 bangles to all women. Thanks.

It's really very simple to make morams. Take artwork cardboard sheets available in all stationary shops. stick golden sheets on both the sides. Allow it to dry completely. Then Cut into rectangular pcs. of size about 3"x2". on both the sides of the 2" side leaving about 1cm. cut into 'v' shape of about 2 cms.depth. Now it looks like "W" shape on one side right ? now fold the W shapes 's side strips to middle pc. (it should overlap the middle angular pc.) then staple it. Your Moram is ready to decorate. Thanks for liking it.
