Very pretty design, mOhanaji! I can see small 'poorna kumba's around the flower inside welcoming the new year! Otherwise, a lot of 'S' and its mirror image....., eightfold symmetry to show the 8 directions.... Padmam blooming at the sight of sun....what else? iam too full to think!

By the way the name of the new year is vikRti, not virOdhi. jayantIjI, it is a good answer. But that was not my intention. I'll give a hint. It has something to do with the first month in the year. Hope it helps. vishu guys may have a better shot in answering than the others. Regards! - mOhana

Rangoli looks very nice. Here is my try, from your clue:- First month of the hindu calendar; Chaitra/Chaitram month. Symbol used in the rangoli is that of Aries (first symbol in the zodiac signs), which also looks like V in the Vikriti.

As there are many paths to truth, there seem to be many answers to the problem I posed. (1) There are the S motifs and their mirror images. (2) There are patterns resembling the letter V and B. (3) The inner design does have the solar look. (4) It does have the sign for Aries constellation. Actually, it is the last one (as rightly guessed by latAjI after my hints) on which I based the design. The Aries sign looks like the greek letter upsilon or symmetric gamma. Since mEsha or mEDam happens to be the first month, I thought it appropriate for the occasion. In fact, the Aries design will be very nice for lattice windows. Regards! - mOhana
