Marghazhi Kolams
About Marghazhi Kolams : PRINT
This was my first Marghazhi kolam due to the unpredictable weather here in Chennai. I took this from Aval Vikatan because I liked the shape of the roses very much. The dot count is a little confusing so I will give the count from the first line - inbetween dots - 1, 2, 5, 10, 9, 8, 9, 8, 9, 10, 5, 2, 1. I am sure this will look lovely if coloured - anyone want to try??

You're right Judy, the shape of the roses is unusual, and unique. It looks as if it is ready to open up. The rolled-up stroke at the top of each rose adds some depth to the flower, making it more realistic.

Quite beautiful! The outer cube-like design with the spiral reminds me of old fashioned coal stove, may be for pongal

Alamelu I am really happy to know that you are visiting my gallery and digging out my old kolams to share your comments. Happy because you seem to be quite an expert in padikolams and receiving comments from experts like you will definitely make me improve whatever I am doing right now. Rajam actually you said exactly what I felt when I saw this kolam - it was too cute for me to resist trying out immediately
