Wow, its massive! Whenever I see such huge kolams, I wonder how they are able to maintain the symmetry... sometimes even with dotted kolams I am not able to get perfect symmetry. It either gets elongated, or it gets broader on one side and narrower on the other... Could experts share their secrets of drawing symmetric kolams? Please!

Excellent kolam, thank you very much for sharing this, great symmetry!

Naviprem, secret of symmetry is sheer experience!

Jaya, beautiful ezhikolam. Sreegiri, Jayalakshmi. C is very good in drawing ezhai kolam and she is very fast too. Navipremji, reg symmetry, if you keep dots in the beginning with equal distance on all sides and then draw the designs on that then it is easy to get symmetry. If u can come for the B'lore meet we can show demonstration.

Jaya Mohan mam, i completely agree, when it comes to art of any form, experience counts a lot.
Rajamma, I would love to come to Bangalore, but i will wait for a Chennai meet, for logistic reasons...

I missed meeting Jaya at Navin's son's wedding - so sad...

This is an extremely beautiful and elaborate padikolam - I just love it.

Naveena symmetry comes with experience for sure as Jaya said but again as Rajamma said you have to learn how to put dots with equal distance. First you can start putting dots for small kolams and practice, once you master the art of putting dots with equal distance then you can easily do larger kolams too. I must quote the example of how Pushpa mastered the art of maakolams - Rajamma remember?? She never knew how to put wet maakolams and one day she decided to learn - just go to her gallery (http://ikolam.com/node/3147) and see her learning process now she has become a master in it. Apart from practice and experience you also need a drive to learn - so start immediately and I am sure one day you too will proudly display your symmetric kolams in this very same website Smile
