Splendid work! You're right latAji! In that sense, many dotted patterns are nothing but free hand symmetrical designs and the dots serve only as guide posts. In principle, one can draw such patterns without dots too. In such designs, particularly when they are colored, in the final pattern one does not see the dots as opposed to the chikku kOlams where the lines surround the dots and in the final pattern, the dots are clearly visible.
