A.Saradha 2012 - Kolu Contest

My Kolu - in iKolam Contest 2012.

Thanks to iKolam for bringing in a contest like this.
But God and Kolu are not for contest. I feel.
However this is a sharing forum and there is no harm in sharing information and creativity.

Kolu Signifies pampering the Almighty and all her creations. It is also a chance for us to show some creativity in our mind while preserving the long time traditions and culture. It is culmination of both. Elders and young ones at home get together to show their affection to GOD and friends and neighbours also exchange invitation and visit to socialise in traditional way.

This is my 14th year of Kolu where my friends contribution are many in this Kolu collection. Every year new additions are there and 5 steps have become 9 steps now. In each step there is atleast one pillayar. Those who visit are given a contest to find out the number of pillayars in the steps.

My children during their small age kept their play dolls as Kolu below the TV stand and we still keep this every year (not covered in picture).

I try new type fusions in my receipe for sundal and payasams for neivedhyam but adhering to the traditional taste and ingredients.

This is my passion with bhakthi. I invite kanya girls and give them thambulam with cosmetic accessories like marudani, thailachakkai, manjal, kumkum, bangles,etc with coconut and fruits.

It is a pleasure days and i feel it is only for nine days.

I wait for the next year to come soon.
