thanks soo much Pushpa.
Its done just with normal clay and some few match-sticks to secure the hands. The pedestal is of done with four pieces of playwood nailed to form a box.
I did not do any coloring due to time constraint.
I had got a big bag of clay from a potter when we had gone for a team event near Hesaragatta lake. If there is any terracota jewels/dolls making shop near by, you can check with them to see whether they can share some clay with you.
check out this sample video on this site http://parisaraganapati.net/ shared by Lakshmi ma'm earlier...quite easy to give a start, you can try with wheat/ maida dough too, but should be little harder than the chapati dough

Waw, Anirudh! I love your eco friendly Ganesha. Did you feel like immersing in water after the pooja? It is fun making it with your own hands no?The minute details and decorations are very cute.We too got one clay Ganesha and my grandson helped his father to paint it with water colour. I must ry this next year

thanks soo much rajammaji. Yes, it was very hard to do the immersion, we kept him for 5 days. Definitely it was a great joy while making & the happiness you get at the end cant be explained. Yes, please try for next year.
Btw if you use maida dough, you can add all your food colors and make very colorful Ganesha
