Something On a Stick Day!
I've made Strawberries dipped in white chocolate for the National "Something On a Stick Day". Here in America it is customary to enjoy various American food items that comes or is presented on a stick. Some examples are popsicles, horsd'oevres, corndogs, and cake pops.
Here is how one can make these strawberries on a stick; Take about a dozen or so strawberries for this task. You can wash these fruits and dry them using paper towels. You do not have to remove the leaves. Prepare a double boiler to melt some chocolate (I've used white chocolate since that is my favorite). Add a few bars of chocolate along with a tblsp of shortening. In order to avoid lumps, stir the melted chocolate really well. Skewer the strawberries and dip them one by one in the chocolate mix. After dipping them in chocolate, you can also sprinkle them with sprinkles or tiny candies if readily available. I've used pink sprinkles on one of them just to show an example. I've also wanted to use brown chocolate mix for some of the strawberries, but somehow couldn't get another double boiler ready for it. My plan was to pipe some melted white chocolate on top of the brown color coated ones after the cooling period.
Set them in the fridge for the chocolate to set, and wait patiently to enjoy. The dipping part and the cooling period together took me about half an hour. All of us finished eating them up in two minutes.
I hope you'll make them in your home and enjoy as much as we did!
