mOhanaji, I think you have put some dot like thing in the centre design to give the effect of the lines running over the other, without making a cross square there! Ofcourse the 3D effect of the Shanku and flowers also add up to it.

This looks devine! I too feel that the light-effect from the Shanku is the extra feature added!

mOhanaji uncle is it the small circles inbetween the horizontal and vertical lines???

JKM lovely colour combination and the shanku is the highlight.. Rajamma I think the vertical lines are overlapping the horizontal lines hence it looks like dots behind - if the gap between the lines were bigger then there would have been squares instead...

Thanks for the comments. The Sankha, the lamp and the flower are real. You're all on the wrong track ;-) Regards! - mOhana

Of course they are real ones - it is quite obvious JKM - what I meant was that they are well blended and looked very good..

I'll also join the bandwagon and give out my answer (I know it is not going to be correct though). I see that the pattern is starting to resemble a hridayakamalam.

They are ordinary Sankhas. Let me give a clue. Sankha is a "part" of the characteristic. Regards! - mOhana

The shankas look like small Ganeshas, with two dots for the eyes, is that the special feature? Reminds me of the story of "the blind men and the elephant"!

The feature consists of four parts of which the Sankha is one. Regards! - mOhana

I couldn't phone a friend, no lifeline. But, given the clue, here is my final answer; Sudarshana Chakra. :) I can't wait for the others to give it a shot later one. :)

lakshmiji i too think the same.but i guess it's sanka, chakra, padma, hastha.that's why i asked whether it's derivation of god?

No it is not gadA, lakshmIjI. The feature I am referring to is made up of four parts, one of which is the Sankha. You have to find out the other three present in the rangOli to get the desired characteristic. This feature is also repeated more than once. Time to go to bed, it is nearing 11:30. I'll give the answer tomorrow. Regards! - mOhana

The smaller and bigger white arcs together look like the number three (or dEvanAgari u). Together with the Sankha and the lamp, they form the OM symbol. Initially, I had the direction of the sankha reversed. When I saw the emergence of the OM pattern, I had it to the present form so that the upper contour of the Sankha resembles more to the OM contour. It would have been more obvious if I had lowered the lamp a bit. That I thought would destroy the symmetry. Now the question is - is this how this symbol came into existence? That is a wild shot :-) latAjI, I hinted the solution further to you by uploading an OM rangOli! Regards! - mOhana

mOhanaji,I wrote OM in the papaer in sanskrit and was not able to see the round coming inside that, moreover the yellow flower was standing out. so left my guessing thereitself. Anyhow, I accept that it was not easy to visualise that as OM at one shot.
