My recent article on knotted patterns
I am giving the links to my article on melika muggulu (chikku kOlangaL or knotted patterns) in the latest November issue of the telugu online journal eemaaTa. The top link is in telugu script and the bottom one is its English transliteration. More than half the material has already been published here. But there is some fresh material. Follow the orange links to see rare pictures (such as knotted patterns in Harappa of the Indus valley civilisation, a movie on sand patterns of Vanuatu, a complete new section on star polygons with patterns and nAgabandha patterns in Tamil and Telugu, a nAgabandha on the roof of Somanathapura temple near Mysore). I quoted a poem from the 13th century wherein a distinction is made between muggu and rangavalli. I made a special reference to ikolam and a reference to my gallery and blogs. May be, hopefully a few more enthusiasts will join the group here.

There is another article (a piece of poetry in the metres vasantatilaka, vanamayUra, kanakaprabha, viyOgini) called rituparNa (season's leaves) showing the appearance of leaves in the spring, rainy season, autumn and winter accompanied by a tessellation done in 2004. Its link is

After the first full stop in the link and before the next forward slash, type "e e m a a t a" with no spaces in between to get the links. latAjI has to fix them as due to security reasons, it seems to have been blocked. Regards! - mOhana

Yes Mohanaji, recently we've had quite a few server crashes, the latest one experienced today. One of the reasons behind happens to be link spamming. To avoid that, we've had to take some preventive measures. This issue will take more time to sort through, since we don't have direct control over some of the parameters. In the meantime, you are most welcome to post the article here in your blog.
