It is traditional to carve pumpkins with monster faces and have a flickering lamp lit inside (called jack-o'-lantern) on Halloween that falls a day before the All Saints day ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack-o%27-lantern ). It is really a very pretty sight to watch young children in various costumes begging for candies with the words trick-or-treat. This year more than a hundred kids came to the house despite a bit colder weather, thanks to the freak snow storm of the week end. Regards! - mOhana
