Oh my God! Lata you have left me speechless. Thanks a million times over for starting this thread - I feel really honoured. I am sure Anita has got a very bright future ahead with so many good hearts to bless her in every new step she takes.

Thanks to all my dear friends Lata, Rajamma (you are absolutely right ippovay ippdi irukku can't imagine after two years when she really will be going to her pugundha veedu what I will do), Lakshmi, Jayanthi (of course we will give all the interesting happenings every now and then), Purni, Asha and Indira for sharing my happiness and giving Anita your blessings - I read every comment with tears of joy in my eyes..

Yesterday was a good day she said. She will be taking Multi-Media for the 2nd and 3rd year students of B.Sc. It was introduction day yesterday so she met all the other staff of her department and interacted with both class students who seemed to be ok, but only that the 'Vaalu Pasanga' (10 of them) from the 3rd year were on leave and she is yet to meet them. She said she was very excited about taking attendance in her class (her long time dream - as she used to enact this bit as a kid) and felt so different (and extremely happy of course) when the students addressed her as 'Ma'am'. These two days have been so different for me also, as I not only had to pack lunch for my hubby (as usual) but also for my 'Working Daughter' and in the evening I was looking forward more, to seeing my daughter when she got back from work.

Thank you all once again for your good wishes and blessings Smile

Congratulations to anitAjI and her proud mother!
It is always exciting to think about the first day in a job. I can imagine how excited
one can be! I still remember taking my first class of engineering students as a
teenager. Some of my students were older than I was. The first year classes were
always full and packed (even here). As for being addressed "sir" or "madam",
I am ambivalent about it. Even today (on this forum too) I always feel strange
if someone calls me "sir". In this country teachers are addressed only as
Professor Smith or Dr Kelly or Ms Parker or Mr Rose, but never on first name basis.
As for attendance in colleges, nobody bothers about it here. If the students don't
turn up, it is their loss and their parents' loss in terms of money.

Regards! - mOhana

Gowri nice to know that you also did lecturing for some time... Yes it is indeed a very noble profession - you know I just missed being a teacher (a profession I loved a lot) only because of Rs.10/-.

Actually in 1977 I was offered a job as a nursery teacher for Rs.90/- and this small school was just 5 minutes away from home. That time I had just done a secratatial course and was ready to follow my mother's footsteps (She was a secretary in Remington Rand for almost 35 years) and attended an interview in a Chartered Accountant company (Frazer & Ross) where I was offered a salary of Rs.100/-. Those days 3 digit salary was something great so I took up this job and missed becoming a teacher for the sake of Rs.10/- (hehe). But you know what?? F&R is where I met Dhana and it is history thereafter... God has a plan for everything I suppose. My dream has now come true through Anita for which I am happy Smile

Yes Gowri, daily the routine of what saree to wear?? mummy does this earring match, which chain to wear? pin my saree properly etc etc... It is fun these days getting her ready for work every morning and the best thing is that she works 1 to 5 so she does not have to hurry up in the morning when my hubby and son are getting ready..

Thank you Madhu for your wishes..
