Memories of chittirai festival are flooding me such as festivals, floats, processions, exhibitions and circus, etc. For those who are not aware, it is interesting that the streets around the mInAkshi temple are named after the Tamil months like chittirai, aaDi, aavaNi, mASI, etc.

very beautiful rani mam. and also very colourful kolam mam. Let this new year bring health, happiness and prosperity to all of us.
Yes jkmsir...chitirai thiruvizha...is celebrated in madurai in a very special manner. Meenakshi amman theradi veedi (streets) will be full of people enjoying the festival with their family, friends and relatives. (My native is madurai) I very much miss this festival after my mother's death. your wordings kindled my vasantha kalangal we enjoyed with my mother.
