Symmetry with kannaDa-telugu numerals

The numerals in kannaDa are : ೧ ೨ ೩ ೪ ೫ ೬ ೭ ೮ ೯ ೦ (from 1 through 9 and zeo); in telugu they are : ౧ ೨ ౩ ౪ ౫ ౬ ౭ ౮ ౯ ౦ . I created symmetric patterns using these numerals. Top row - 1, 2, 2mm, middle row - 3, 3m, 4, bottom row - 4mm, 6, 6mm. Pure mirror symmetry (m) is omitted. In telugu, the numeral three is similar to the Roman numerals we use normally. That is why I used the kannaDa 3. Here also one may see that 6 and 9 are inverted. Interestingly, this kind of numerals are part of the compound letters (ottu) we use in those languages. Still these numerals that are used for page numbers in kannaDa books. Enjoy!

I am uploading the eight-cornered star. I call it trivENi saMgama because this is a confluence of science, arts and literature. I have given two mat-like patterns with the basic motif shown on the top right. The poem inscribed in the star begins at the top horizontal line. The full poem in telugu script is given at the bottom right. It is an invocation to goddess sarasvati. I'll give the English transliteration and the meaning after it is uploaded as I cannot load the full text.

muggu

muggu in telugu means rangOli. It is also called mruggu. But in modern
telugu, the r sound for words beginning with compound letters containing r
is omitted. The letter mu is given in green, the gu sound is given in blue.
The second g sound in muggu is called ottu and is given by the symbol below
gu in red. In the top two figures, they form a 3- and 4- petal flower-like
patterns. In the bottom two, the u sounds in gu form the blue S-like motif.
The top left pattern is a Sierpinski triangle that occurs in fractal geometry.

This is a stylised drawing of flowers (red) and bees (blue). The flower has four petals and is made up of the telugu letter vi. the first lesson in symmetry is we cannot have a five-fold symmetry and extend it infinitely. But there are a few flowers with four petals. The bees are in blue, made up of the telugu letter ri. viri in telugu means flower. Enjoy and comment!

By the way, the svAstika drawing was made up of the tamil letter Ta.

This is a familiar rangoli with a twist. The lotus pattern is obtained with letters that spell jalajam in telugu. jalajam means lotus. The anusvAra (sunna) at the end of the word all meet in one circle forming a common letter for all six. Enjoy!
