Suganthy Mohan's paper quilling kolam

About Suganthy Mohan's paper quilling kolam : PRINT

Whoever started this ball rolling needs a pat on the back as things like this only makes ikolam alive and buzzing with activity. I have been so busy through the weekend and could not spare even a minute to sit and work on this. I remember seeing that Sunday was the deadline but I could not complete it before that. Today I had some time on to spare so I sat down in front of the computer at around 12.28 pm (to be exact) and now it is 3.59 pm as I upload the (almost) replica of Suganthi's kolam. I could not spend enough time to get it more perfect so I decided to upload it as it is. Though certain places look really nice the rest needs some more fine tuning. The only deviation from the original design I made was on the number symmetry. Hope you all like this Biggrin

I love it Judy. U have done a great job. YOu could bring the quilling effect so nicely in photoshop!!!!. Maintained the color combination as the original. Suganthi madam will be admiring this a lot .without extra fittings u have made it a real 'Copycat" kolam. ( I also could not attempt it till the last moment. Lata, gave the last miniute extra time. so I could participate in it. Yes, u say its fun doing such group work)

Thank you Rajam - I am so honoured by your comments. I was actually getting irritated because I was not able to concentrate on what I was doing due to so many disturbances at home yesterday and desperately wanted to finish and upload. Somehow I managed to complete, though I was not quite satisfied with the end product, because I did not get the size of the strokes in the same thickness. Anyway hope to try and copy the second one sometime when I am free more perfectly Smile

Rani thanks dear for your comments Smile

This is really fantastic,Judy. This looks again like a quilled kolam with perfect symmetry, the same shapes and shades as Suganthiji did:) Superb work though you are not satisfied. Now and then we must have some galatta like this (other than the competitions) which is interesting as well as make us learn different things. Thanks Lata for giving such oppurtunities:)

Anirudh I am truly honoured by that title you gave me but I am not too sure if I deserve it now because there is so much more for me to learn from all of you here. Tom & Gerry - wow my favourite cartoon characters.

Thank you Alamelu.

Brindha ya you are right - this was so much fun indeed. Thanks Lata for uploading our submissions (and for uploading mine though I submitted it late) in-spite of your busy weekend schedule. What next now??

This looks so pretty Judy! The curls looks naturally made with quilled paper. The colors too look original and adds to the overall beauty. I'm glad you found the time to participate! Smile
Jayaji, by this time, I think our active members have some idea about the themes, so Judy is right, there is something coming up soon. Maybe after the July 4th specials?? Smile

juDIjI, this is a wonderful attempt, very artistically done. You deserve a quilling bouquet Smile
My only question is - why did you choose eight objects inside and ten afterward?
rANijI, July fourth is the independence day for my adopted country, the USA.

Regards! - mOhana

Is this developed in photoshop or you have pasted the image of the original quilling. I am not finding any difference between the two. Judy, an amazing and fantastic creative work by you, that too in the time when we get a very sweet sleep. I am really proud of you. Thanks a lot.
Some how I have missed this opportunity. I came to know about this healthy competition now only. I would have participated.

When I saw the kolam without the intro given by you, I thought it was paper quilling. Never expected this was a photoshop output. Looks so natural.

By the way I'm not aware of this contest going on in ikolam, where I have become a rare visitor. All the best.
Well, Lata can make separate space for these sort of collections other than Diwali, Dew drops contest.. ikolam members always have a surprise.

Thank you so much Jaya, Lata, Padmasree, Padma Prakash (I don't sleep in the afternoon because I am hooked onto ikolam at that time - hehe), Lax, Vinci, Usha and Sree for your lovely comments - makes me feel so good with so much support from all of you. JKM, I am really truly honoured to receive that quilling bouquet and thanks for highlighting my mistake - let me explain.. I had actually made the centre flower first (10 fold) but was not happy with the shape as it did not look quilled. So after completed this kolam I redid the centre again to get the shape more perfectly and in the process made 8 petals instead of 10 (being in a hurry to upload this submission as it was past deadline time). Will surely correct this and upload again so Lata can replace it later on - thanks a ton Smile
