Sankha
About Sankha : PRINT
Many people seem to appreciate the Sankha rangOli (http://ikolam.com/node/6423?p=590) and similar ones. Here is a rangOli with real Sankha. The above one is at bottom right making up for symmetry allowances. Enjoy!

Its Awesome, JKMji...... Your Unique Style of putting real things together sure is Magical......
My Dad has a huge collection of Shells, Shankas & many other collectibles from the Sea..... Star Fish, Seahorse, Sea urchin and many more to say.... and He would have a story for each of his collectible....and he displays them in our Fish Tanks... Me & My Sister even used to collect and make many things out of the Shankas like Ganesha, Flower vase, Wall Hanging..... But I have Never seen or thought of such an use of them till seeing yours..... Its really very artistic, Sir....

I can't take my eyes off of the rightmost pattern at the top. Very nice.
If anyone wants to learn how to draw the dotted version of the pattern that mOhanaji has given the link for, follow this link: http://www.ikolam.com/node/165 titled seashells

latAjI, the animated rangOli of yours is very good! I know why you're attracted by the top right pattern. It is the voids that make it and also the others stand out. Symmetry-wise, it is the bottom left that is quite interesting Of course Sankhas are not only eye catching, but also ear catching. Even in tiruppAvai there is a mention of the sounding of the conch. However this daily ritual gradually disappeared from south Indian households even though it is still practised in Bengal where at sunset the conch sounds are quite common.
