This is pongal rangoli. This rangoli was drawn in front of my house for pongal day 2009.this was drawn by bharathi,pinky,pavan, one more lakshmi devi and myself.Dots for this kolam
15x8 inbetween dots.and free hand also.

Lakshmi,in villages invariably ladies used to put big rangoli during Margazhi month early morning before sunrise and keep atleast one Yellow color flower( sweet pumpkin plant's flower, i think) on the ball of cow-dung.(May be for dhrishti) Nice to see you follow the tradition, by including that in the kolam.

Rajamma madam , thanks, yes we wanted this to bring the old tradition, hence created accdly. It telugu its called " GOBBIAMMA " , mostly Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh the cleberate Pongal on same lines...

Anyhow it is feast for eyes.

Viji Madam, We have six blocks in our colony, till mid night all blocks people were
drawing rangoils in respective blocks, belive its was as if day there about 50 people
down till mid night.. Just for info to-day evening in " IMAYAM TV " there was programe which was recorded in our colony, aired from 5.00 pm onwords...we did had rangoli kolam, dances, making pongal , debate etc....

Dear Rajamma,
In my early ages, we girls make very very big kolams and we never allow to cross any bullock cart or horse cart(kuduraivandi) through our kolams. we make cowdunk like pillayr and put one yellow flower called parangipoo above the pillayar. It is a symbalic that a girl in this house is ready for marriage.In the evening we make the sani pillayar(cowdungpillayar) into round shape and put on top of the cowshed. On the last day of Markali i mean on Bogi day we girls collect all the dried cowdung put it in a big bamboobasket and will go near the river and will make pongal and pulikolambu out of pumpkin . Do you know how tasteful that kulambo will? we innocent girls dontknow even how to prepare the kulambo. Even then it taste very very fine.We used to sing song kummi kollattam and will return to our house in the evening.Very nice olden days.
