Wow, nice one Viji but you should have tried some contrast colour threads - the red thread and the background are almost the same so it does not throw out the kolam so well.. Maybe a black background would have been excellent..

Viji, Iam sure it is stem stitch with a contrast color thread wound over it!There is a specific name for it, which is not coming to my mind now! You can add some stones/chamkees in the place of dots.
