Best wishes to all ikOlam sisters on the occasion of bhaginI tRtIya
dipAvaLi is a series of festivals. The thirteenth day is the pre dIpAvaLi festivities (we call it nIru tuMbuva habba or jalapUrNa trayOdaSi, i.e. the vessel in which water for the next day's bath is used is worshipped to be blessed), the fourteenth day is naraka chaturdaSi, the new moon day is the dIpAvaLi on which day kEdArESvara is worshipped and lakshmI pUja is performed, the first day is bali pADyami when bali is honoured as in ONam, the second day is the brother's festival (bhAyi dUj) and the third day the sister's festival, the fourth day is nAgachaviti and the fifth day is garuDa panchami. Actually, yamunA, the river with dark waters invited her brother yama on this day on bhAyI dUj. On the occasion of the sister's festival tomorrow, here is one made especially for all the ikOlam sisters. Enjoy the i-gift

Yipee! Just the color of bangles I needed! :0
I'm sure the oval design on the yellow background must've been time consuming. I enjoyed reading the write up too.

The sOna rectangle on the sari pallu has 2x15 dots for the longer side and 2x3 dots for the shorter side. It took about two hours for the rectangle job alone, but nothing like the dIpAvaLi design that took considerable time.

Thank you very much Sir. In Andhra we call Tritiya (tadiya) day as Bhagini Hasta Bhojanam. Brothers will be invited by sisters for Bhojan and sisters would prepare food for brothers and present clothes to brothers after the Bhojan. sOna rangoli is so colourful and the greeting card is beautiful.
