Diwali Rangoli 2010
Daughters from young age will watch their mothers drawing Kolam. So Kolam drawing is passed down from generation to generation.
My mother always said, “Lakshmi will protect us from money-related sorrows and bring wisdom, intelligence and good luck. She is our main Deity on Diwali Day.”
My cousins and I would decorate the doorstep of our house with Rangoli designs depict diyas, flowers and Peacock, India’s National Bird.
Exchanging sweets and gifts and meeting members of the family and friends are my favourite part of Diwali.
The Diwali that I experienced in India was a religious, social and family occasion to meet, greet, chat and spend time happily. A variety of gift items including dry fruits, sweets would be exchanged between families and friends
If there was one bad aspect of Diwali, it was over-indulgence in exotic and rich food.
But as we used to say, ‘After all, it is just for a day!” Rangoli also has a religious significance, enhancing the beauty of the surroundings and spreading joy and happiness all around.

Looks like a nice carpet with pleasing colours. The various layers all stand out. My only other comment is symmetry is not taken care of. May be the complexity of the work is responsible for this. This year, I decided not to grade anyone. priyA ma'am, your enthusiasm and participation makes you already a winner in my opinion.
