Why I like ikOlam :-)
I know the working of several newsgroups, forums, magazines, etc. ikOlam is indeed unique in several respects. Let me list out a few.
1. It is moderated by persons genuinely interested on all aspects in the traditional art of rangOli.
2. Within this framework, a lot of freedom is available to the individuals to express themselves both artistically and culturally.
3. You are never ever dejected on this forum. That is because rangOlis are generally not rejected.
4. The target audience is unique and wonderful. They are always, without fail, appreciative. They always offer constructive suggestions for improvement. Perhaps the nature of this audience, mostly women, is responsible for this. Women, in general, are not hurtful. They are more courteous.
5. Occasionally personal stories and anecdotes are shared and this brings out an element of togetherness and shared feelings.
How much we have all grown together and became better human beings in the process! May ikOlam grow from strength to strength!
Regards! - mOhana

The last few words crack me up Lakshmi! Thanking Lata? Seems formal |(
If I were to start thanking you for all the care & share you've shown ikolam, I'm afraid I'll get tired. :tired:
Then I'd have to go make some appbeet juice from Pushpa's gallery and come back with full energy to publish your carpets.

The feeling is mutual, Suguna. Just between us , I don't remember if I thank the Lord for your rangolis or recipes, Suguna, but I sure do thank Him for giving us our own Suguna. Btw, do keep the dazzling rangolis and yummy food coming our way, ok?

What, it's Thanksgiving already!? That was my first thought Mohanaji.
All of us put together make a great team, Mohanaji. I guess as long as everybody keeps in touch and says 'hello' in their own style, all of us will keep growing. This is what my brain has learned, so far.
I'm afraid if I start writing names of friends in the team to thank them, I'll not be able to fit all the names here, and even if I try, I'm sure I can't continue and will walk away misty eyed.
One commenting section is not enough for me to touch upon our big team-members. So I guess I'll keep my composure and will divert my mind to posting my part of the 'hello' with this site.

C'mon brain, quick, close the commenting section, or else other friends are going to feel pressured to start thanking.

Dear Lata,as mentioned it is really a silly poem written on the spot to answer how i felt about the taining .My trainers name is Mr.Rajendra Muthye and the full form of PAP is "personalised action plan ".This training course is for one year and every month we have to attend for two days and each day we have two lectures on mangement . And after every lecture we have to fillup the form for PAP and in next lecture we have to show how we have implemented it .Our PAP and implementaion sheets goes to higher authority(MD).Plese find below my poem there may be lots of spelling mistakes .please forgive me

Your views are very true and I totally agree with them sir...A very wonderful place to share our works and thoughts. Of the five points you have mentioned the third and the fourth one always comes to my mind first as soon as I think about ikolam. I am very happy to be associated with this site which has given me so many wonderful friends and thank one and all for the support and the happiness they have brought in me. Thanks for making us share our thoughts sir.

My first thought when I finish my housework is when will I go to Ikolam, even if my kolam is not published and even if I have not uploaded a kolam, reason being to view the wonderful works of others. Yes what I like in this site is the encouraging words no matter how the kolam is, that is what encourages people to do a better job (living example me). Friends... who can imagine that such a strong bond can be formed here, I surely never did until I started participating in all events of Ikolam, friends who I took the liberty of teasing and who I shared my feelings of grief or happiness with. Things seemed incomplete without me sharing my feelings with them. Before I never took interest in doing kolam as much as I take now to do them, reason is because I have like-minded people to genuinely enjoy my works, give constructive opinions about our works, and understand the importance or relevance of it. Every time in our life if something good happens, like we get good parents or a good life partner, we thank god for giving us such wonderful persons in our life. Similarly, Lata I thank you for bringing us together and creating such a wonderful and magical bond.  Thank You JKM sir for this opportunity as well.
