Silver Sword Plant in Haleakala, in the island of Maui - Hawaii (USA)

I took this picture of a rare plant/flower, called the Silver Sword plant, growing on the Haleakala mountain, in the island of Maui - Hawaii (USA). There were many growing a few feet apart from each other. We didn't find this plant and flower cluster anywhere else other than the mountain top. We had visited the mountain top to view the sunrise. There were "Keep out" labels under each plant, so we knew that this was a rare plant.

Got it. It took me some more time to dig out an old brochure from our Hawaii trip, from a few years ago. The National park that we went to is Haleakala, in the island of Maui - Hawaii (USA). It is a popular spot to experience the sunrise.

This plant is called the Silver Sword Plant or Ahinahina plant. It has silver colored leaves that glisten in the sun, and the plant is an endangered one. I also read that this plant grows only at the top of the Haleakala mountains. This is a rare plant with silver-colored delicate foliage that grows for up to fifty years before it finally flowers. The plant dies after flowering.
