International schools in Bangalore

Dear residents/members living in Bangalore,

Please share your thoughts on some of the best schools of Bangalore. Some of our friends residing in California are looking for information about International and some of the top schools of Bangalore. One of the questions that frequently comes up in our circle is; Is an Indian second language compulsory in sixth standard in Bangalore, or could the kids take a foreign language instead of Hindi/Kannada?

February happens to be the school-registration month. Is it not?

Thanks so much.

Thanks Suguna. This reminds me of the CBSE syllabus that I had gone through in Delhi, where one had to take both Hindi and Sanskrit from 6th to 8th. Smile
"Kids" like me and you who took second indian languages from the nursery days could cope with it just fine, in my opinion. But, kids who are coming from other countries to India for their elementary/middle school years, may find it a bit challenging. Atleast that's what I hear from one of my kids friends.

Lata ..you can try with some schools that follow IGCSE(International General Certificate of secondary education developed by Cambridge) syllabus. They provide you with the choice of choosing English as a language....suitable for foreigners.. Bangalore has one or two schools which follow this I think.

Thank you, will pass this to my friend who is moving this spring season. Smile

Yes Lata, there is a flexibility in choosing the languages and many of them have ICSE syllabus. Will try to get the names & details shortly
