Last year, I had made some butterflies using a Perler bead kit. I had also made a couple of dogs. Perler bead kits come with a plastic base, in many shapes, and colorful bead kits. There is a piece of special paper included in the kit. We arrange the beads on the plastic base, and the beads are fused into place by placing the piece of paper on top and ironing it for a few seconds. The shape is then left to cool, undisturbed, and is then ready to be displayed.

This is the 3rd in my series of Arthi Plates made with turmeric ,betel nut,bangles,flowers and bindi ,all that is auspicious for the wedding.I tried for plastic betel leaves.But could not get it.So I plan to arrange real betel leaves at the time of Arthi.

Every year, our family members get involved in making some kind of arts and crafts that symbolize the celebration of Diwali. We make greeting cards most of the times, but sometimes we also take the time to make other fancy things, like candle holders in various shapes, or Diya holders to hold those earthen lamps we light during Diwali.
