Try Baraha. It can handle several Indian languages including all south Indian languages. It can be exported in Unicode to sites like this. It is free. It has a wordpad that can convert from one language to another language making learning easy.
Dear members,
This service is mainly for people who have let us know about their inability to write comments in English. The Transliteration option converts English characters to Tamil characters. The Tamil option lets you type Tamil words phonetically in English script and then have them appear in Tamil (the same concept is followed in Hindi also). This is not the same as translation. In this site, transliteration is now available for Tamil and Hindi. I can offer translation for comments posted in this site on a daily basis, as needed for comments posted in Tamil and/or Hindi. Comments posted in any other language other than English, Tamil and Hindi might get deleted, as we do not have the resources or the time to provide the translation.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
You are so lucky Lakshmi! You were able to get help from a member of your family.
In my case, when I wasn't able to understand beyond "chenagi bandhide" in a comment posted in Kannada, I asked my husband to help decode it since he had worked in Banglore for a few years (a long time ago). But, his response was; "who knows, lets hope they'll realize and post the english translation too". And so, we waited....and waited...and waited some more......and are still waiting!
Actually, chennagi bandide is the only thing I understand in Kannada Anirudhji
(I meant to say, I don't get what was said after those couple of words. I did get the meaning for the remainder of the sentence from somebody else. Thank you)
