Happy Thanksgiving!
Generally Thankgiving is not associated with any gods or godesses. Although the "Thanksgiving festival" is American by tradition, it is celebrated by Americans and the immigrants. It is a day to be thankful for all the blessings that had been bestowed upon us, both as individuals as well as a family.
We're immigrants, and so, I would like to add that Thanksgiving is not "traditional" for us. But, we've lived in America long enough to observe it in a special way. Since our kitchen is a vegetarian one, my kitchen table will be devoid of - the TURKEY!
Some of the items that would be there for the occasion are: Puris with some gravy-vegetable (it has to have paneer in it to keep the kids happy), tamarind rice (to keep the man of the house happy). Rice/dal/sambar don't need any mentioning here...a couple of side dishes and ofcourse, Kesari and Chana dal Vada, should be sufficient. What do you think?
I've always wondered about how our internet friends celebrate holidays. Any thoughts/comments?
Wish you all a happy bountiful life!
