City from your profile

When you mouse over the thumbnails on the front page, you'll see the city names of the kolams too. We were excited to realize that, each entry comes from a different place (ofcourse we all knew that), and couldn't help thinking about this idea.

Let us know if you don't want us to reveal your city.

Another option would be to display the country instead of the city. Let us know how you feel. Some of them could be outdated, depending on the current status of the profile.

I think the city is enough. Any way, most of the entries are from India.

I think the name of the state too will appear if one adds it by the side of the city in the profile.

Yes, the name of the state will appear if one adds it right next to the city in the profile. But, then it becomes a long name. The general preference is to have one name showing up when we mouse over. I mean, we all know that Chennai is in Tamilnadu, or Hydrabad in AP and so on and so forth, so I don't see the reason why State should also be shown.

Judy, I am waiting to hear from a few other long-term members regarding joining the meet. Others can always express their interest by responding to your Chennai meet blog post, in this site. One more point to keep in mind is that the count went up by two members, and more may follow. And then it is time to think about whether Rani can still accommodate the # of people attending.

It is a good idea to keep a backup plan, just in case.

One thing to keep in mind here is the veracity of the profile information. The information shown may not always be the city where the members currently live.

We just noticed that this new little "eye candy" feature is causing some issues for the server (because of the extra lookups to pull in the profile information). We are disabling this for now, will bring it back up gradually in the future.

It sure was a nice eye candy though!

I was searching for the city in the front page and could not find any. Then i read the comments fully and realised that has been disabled now. Lata, i am not able to change my city name in my profile. Please tell me how it can be done.
