A Big Thank You to Sons, Daughters, and Loved Ones!

Loved ones. They help us with the ins and outs of life, sometimes almost on a daily basis. Yet there are times when we don't thank them enough and tend to take them for granted! I have realized this from time to time and have changed the way I deal with certain aspects of my life. But only yesterday did I come to know that I've not paid much attention to the kind of help that some of our iKolam members have been receiving from their sons and daughters.

Apparently, some of our iKolam friends haven't been able to upload rangolis to the site for various reasons. Some members think that they need to have a good grasp of the English language in order to communicate with other members at iKolam. I've been receiving emails in Tamil and was surprised to find out that they've been under this assumption for nearly 2 years! I just had to write about this somewhere in this site to let people know that language shouldn’t pose as a barrier for those who’d like to enjoy, appreciate or comment about art, or any form of expression for that matter. So please just write in any language you're comfortable with. Also, feel free to ask me or other members if you'd like to get translations for any comment made by others. We'd be happy to be of service. Some of these members also depend on their sons and daughters to email attachments to iKolam. One of our recent members tells me that her husband helped her find what she wanted from this site. It does take time to browse the net or even email and upload files, and it is indeed of great help to our fellow members!

To the sons, daughters, and loved ones of iKolam members: OUR HEARTFELT THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT! We appreciate you for setting some time aside to email and/or upload rangolis for your family members!

Here I openly want to thank my grand daughter SAHANA. She is the one who helps me right from selecting the design, arranging her table top to space my kolam, making color powder by mixing riceflour with food coloring and drying it, giving suggestions and comments in between, taking photo of the kolam in her camera in all possible angles, uploading them in the computer, sending it to ikolam site by typing suitable titles and messages.Wow! how lucky I am !

Since my Patti has praised me by her best words,I will appericiate her.My patti is the only reason why my all kolams are beautiful. She is always is correcting my kolams /rangolis and correcting my mistakes. Almost always she comes up with imaginative ideas for me.My interest in ikolam is because seeing paati draw so many kolams or rangolis made me get that wonderful feeling that i could also draw pretty kolams. So,when i asked patti to teach me kolam drawing i felt very happy so my first rangoli was drawn in paper.from there i learnt to draw on the floor.
Thanks to my Paati I would have never learnt kolams neither would I learn to draw neatly!Thank you Paati!
