iKolam members meet in Chennai...
Hello Chennaites,
There is going to be an iKolam members meet in Chennai, on the 28th of March. This meeting is initiated by two of our member friends Mrs. Rajamma Sitaraman and her sister Mrs. Jaya Mohan. Please email me or comment here, so that I can forward Mrs.Jaya Mohan's email to you for fixing a convenient venue, date, and time for the meet.
I know that Judy, Lakshmi, Bharathi, Brindha, Sumathi.V, Ashaji, Viji ma'am are in the list, so far.
Please let me know. I'm excited for all of you!

Hi Chennai iKolam group!
How are you all doing? I've heard from a few more members who are interested in attending the meet (March 28th). I've already sent the emails of the other members who are attending. I think it is better to finalize all the details regarding the meet in advance, by email as far as possible, to ensure a relaxing, fun experience! Who knows, this might become the first of an annual iKolam meet too!
For starters, you will need to think about a place to accommodate about 25 people at least (we don't have any idea about the number of family members/extended family members who might be attending too). Lakshmi, I'm sure Bharathi, Pinky and Rathnadeepika aren't the only ones attending from your neighborhood.
Please make sure to finalize starting/concluding time for the meet, so that people can gauge things according to all of your respective schedules. Bring samples of your work if possible. Sumathi's idea of having a potluck is a great idea. We have potlucks whenever get-togethers consists of 25 people or more. It is usually more convenient. So, friends, start "talking"! Feel free to throw in ideas and delegate tasks! If you have any questions or concerns, do email me, and I will address your concerns anonymously. We're sure all of you will get it done beautifully and have an enriching experience!
I'll create a closed group for this meet, which will facilitate further communication within the group members.

Lakshmi my situation at the moment is 80 / 20 because as i told you my husband is returning from out of station on 28 march only... i do not want to miss this wonderful opportunity of meeting all our lovely friends so i am keeping my fingers crossed... i will keep you updated in a couple of days again...

Rajamma, Jaya Mohan, Jaya Chandrasekar, Brindha & her mother-in-law Thangamani aunty, Akila, Sumathi, Viji, Asha, Mani Vasuki, Lakshmi, Pavan, Raghu, Bharathi, Pinki, Subashini, Sudha, Nirmala (my neighbour - yet to join ikolam soon) and myself attended the Chennai Meet at Lakshmi's house today and had a lovely time interacting with one another. We started around 11 am and before we realised it was 5 pm. Felt sad that the day was over so soon.
It was wonderful to connect with you through webcam and phone - made us feel as if you were there with us. Hope to meet you in person soon.
I am preparing the minutes of today's meet and will upload it tomorrow. The photos also I am just adding some headings so I will upload them also tomorrow.
I know you and a lot of the others might be very curious to know what happened today - please bear with us for a day and we promise to send you the whole picture story tomorrow.
Thank you once again - but for you we would not have met.

It was really wonderful to meet all ikolam experts at one place. My mom-in-law enjoyed as much as or more than all of us. It was highly educative and informative. I think the details will trickle in a day or two. Thank you Lata for making this come true.

Hi Ladies,
I still can't believe I got to see all of you yesterday! I just emailed you all a brief message. To sum up for the time being, and from what I gather from all of you, I would say that it had been a fun-filled, productive and an educational day for all of us. Everyone is bound to feel tired after such a hectic day, so please ladies, take a break for a few days, and then you could begin posting your experiences/pics/demos.

Lata, i am so sorry. I could not attend ur call. I went to the school, then i returned at 4:30 pm. Then i opened Ikolam. But i heard ur voice by voice mail.
I am very eagerly waiting to see all of our friends' photos and videos. Please send tomorrow morning. Just now my kids have slept.

A big thanks first of all for making this ikolam meet a grand success. It was really informative for I was able to add essence to my knowledge about kolams especially the NEER MEL KOLAM. Again a big thanks to lakshmi and her DH and Son our ikolam member Pavan(the teacher--photoshop kolam)
It was nice meeting all friends. rajjamma Madam is downtoearth person and so simple like her sister jaysm madam.
I very well appreciate brindahs MIL She is very energetic and happily agreed to lit the lamp and intraqcted with us very happily.
Again thanks to teached(Lakshmi) for teaching us water(under and above)kolam.
jude made the meeting very kalakala.
Asha you are very beautiful dear.
maniVasuki had a very imaginative telent and creater too.(Very good cook i suppose because of her sweet)

Hi Jennifer, welcome to ikolam. It is ok if you don't the place to practice kolams, I'm glad you are visiting the site! This way, you get to enjoy your sister's rangolis and everyone else's too! And, eventually you'll find a way to make your own too.

Hi Jenny - did not realise you visited ikolam till I saw Lata's mail.. As Lata said not necessary for you to post kolams alone (that you can look around and enjoy) but you can upload pics of your craft work - there is an arts and crafts section here for display too. And you can upload your poems here - so what are you waiting for - join the band-wagon..
